There is no official presentation yet, but in Poland a hand-on has already been published on the new Huawei Mate 20 Lite. The smartphone comes with dual front and main cameras, a large screen and a large battery. In USD it costs the equivalent of $400.
The Mate 20 Lite has a 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. The format is 19.5: 9, at the top of the device like the P20 Pro has a display recess, the so-called Notch.
Dual camera on the front
In this is the dual front camera of the Mate 20 Lite, which consists of a 24-megapixel sensor and a supporting 2-megapixel sensor. Thanks to this, users can also take pictures with an artificially created blurred background using the front camera. Whether the dual camera on the front is also used for a face unlock is not known.
The main camera on the back has two sensors, one with 20 megapixels and one with 2 megapixels. Unlike the more expensive Huawei devices, the second camera should only serve as a support and not be used for your own recordings.
Both the front and main cameras have Huawei’s AI-controlled scene detection – this is new for the front cameras. However, according to the website, the front cameras can only recognize eight scenes while the rear main camera has 22 scenes. Interestingly, the AI night mode introduced with the P20 Pro should not be present; This allows shake-free, sharp and well-exposed night shots from the hand.
Kirin 710 and Android 8.1
The Mate 20 Lite is to support dual-band Wi-Fi and LTE and allow the use of two SIM cards. But then users have to do without a micro SD card. The built-in flash memory is 64 GB, the RAM 4 GB. Inside, a Kirin 710, Huawei’s new SoC from the upper middle class, operates at a clock rate of up to 2.2 GHz. The smartphone is delivered with Android 8.1.
The Mate 20 Lite is expected to cost $400 USD in USA, the equivalent of 375 euros. When the smartphone is officially announced is unclear; conceivable is a publication within the Ifa 2018, which begins on 31 August 2018.
